Dark Scar Lightening is a specialized treatment for selected scars that have healed darker than the surrounding skin. Treatment is customized according to the scar, skin tone and pigmentation present, with the goal of gradually reducing visible contrast and creating a softer transition with the surrounding skin. Because darker pigmentation and individual skin responses can vary, treatment is approached conservatively and the area is reassessed after healing. Scar Types We Can Help With Surgical scars: Selected fully healed scars that remain darker than the surrounding skin. Injury & trauma scars: Darkened scars following fully healed cuts, burns or other injuries. Acne/chickenpox marks: Selected flat, healed marks with residual dark pigmentation. Other hyperpigmented scars: Suitability is determined through assessment. What to Expect 1. Consultation and assessment of the scar and pigmentation. 2. Multiple sessions may be required, with adequate healing time between treatments. 3. Progress is assessed after each healing cycle before further treatment. 4. Goal: soften excess colour contrast and make the scar less noticeable. Dark scars can be complex to treat, particularly in skin prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
